| Doe Yamashiro, D.O., began her academic interest in medicine as an undergraduate at Stanford University on a gymnastics scholarship. Her own athletic injuries led her to investigate a medical specialty that concentrates on the neuromusculoskeletal system: cranial osteopathy. She has never wavered in her course of study, attending medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and training in the prestigious residency in Neuromusculoskeletal medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. Dr. Yamashiro had an advantage in medical school, having once trained as a massage therapist. This gave her an edge in a modality that requires the physician's advanced sense of touch to detect tissue dysfunction that fails to appear on X-rays. She is known for advanced diagnostic skills and is well respected by her patients for her compassionate and thorough professional skills. Though more than one attending physician invited Dr. Yamashiro to join them in private practice, she choose a location close to her family and many of her colleagues: The Osteopathic Physicians Building in Santa Monica. |
